Brendan Fraser makes a deal with the devil

The devil is out this Halloween searching for someone willing to give up his or her immortal soul for seven wishes. I’m talking about the movie Bedazzled, starring Brendan Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley.
Elliott (played by Fraser) is an inept loser in love with a co-worker who doesn’t even know he exists.
When he makes a wish to one day be with Alison (Frances O’Connor), Satin (Elizabeth Hurley) magically appears to assist him in making that happen.
The princess of darkness seduces Elliott by telling him that Alison will be his if he signs a contract that will damn his soul. Reluctant to deal with the devil, Elliott is convinced after Lucifer vividly shows him what he’s missing.
When the wishing begins, so do the mishaps for Elliott, because the devil keeps sticking her pitchfork into the wishes. For instance, Elliott wants to be rich, powerful and married to Allison. Poof! What happens is he becomes a Colombian drug lord under attack and despised by his wife, Alison.
The variety of performances Brendan Fraser pours out in the characters he plays in the film are hysterical, from the Colombian drug lord on one end of the spectrum, to the opposite extreme, a sensitive geek.
On the other hand, Elizabeth Hurley is a sultry devil with one huge wardrobe. At times her character is funny and other times more serious. Either way Hurley plays the role to perfection.
Bedazzled is a lighthearted comedy that delivers a realistic message that maybe people are too busy dreaming about what they don’t have, instead of making the best of what they already do have.
