RWC will celebrate National Native American History Month with a different beat this year. On Wednesday, November 15, 12-1 p.m., the area across from Ray’s Cafe will come alive with sounds from the group Ginny Frazier With Circles & Arrows. The group performs “Native Americana” roots music and provides “edutainment” which expresses the connections of the First Americans to various groups in the Midwest.
Ginny’s family roots date back to the Shawnee Indians in Ohio. She has been involved with native American music for many years, including performing vocal music for Walt Disney’s film “Pocahontas” and two Hollywood Records’ releases, “Spirit Dance” and “Spirit Live by Peter Buffet.”
While listening to the music, everyone is invited to sample southwestern-origin cuisine and view photos depicting the mixed roots from Ginny’s family in Ohio. Photos, books, and the group’s new recording will be on sale.
The event is sponsored by RWC Office of Multicultural Affairs.
