RWC and Sycamore Schools working on joint lease agreement

RWC is working on leasing ten acres of land to Sycamore Community Schools, Dean Barbara Bardes announced last week in a series of special meetings with faculty, staff, and students. The land, located on the west end of RWC property, would be used by Sycamore schools to build a 6,300 square-foot building, part of a joint-use agreement between the College and Sycamore schools.

RWC will be able to use the building as an Adult Education Wing in the evenings, weekends, and most of the summer. The property to be leased to Sycamore will also have a soccer field, which would be paid for by Sycamore. RWC students and staff would be able to use the field on certain reserved days.

The College plans to use the building to offer Masters in Education courses, Baccalaureate in Education and Criminal Justice courses, Paramedic courses, as well as undergraduate courses in Behavioral Sciences and Business.

The new building would bring some changes to the campus. The south parking lot would be permanently closed. Traffic for the new building would enter through the main entrance and use separate parking. Sharing of parking would be prohibited.

If all the details have been worked out, the plan will go to the UC Board of Trustees on November 20.
