Original Research done by RWC E-Media students has resulted in the discovery of new archival material from Cincinnati television history. From local contacts and a few dumpster diving escapades, the RWC media department has been able to piece together material from an array of different mediums all related to Cincinnati television history. The archive consists of video, audio and printed material, most of it restored by RWC students. Some of the footage was actually used in the E television True Hollywood Story of Twilight Zone creator and acclaimed writer Rod Serling.
Much of the video footage is from the early 1950s, when television was mainly a live event, and it has been pieced together to form documentary footage for the Cincinnati Television History course offered this spring. The course itself is open to anyone who wants to join.
So if you’ve ever been curious about the origins of television or want to know more about the important part Cincinnati played in the development of the largest medium in the world, sign up. The course will be offered on Thursdays, 6-9 p.m. during Spring Quarter.
