Incoming students at UC for fall 2001 can look forward to the implementation of a new General Education Program. The new program was designed by the UC General Education Coordinating Committee, which took on the strenuous task of forming the program in November of 1999. The program is designed to prevent the University of Cincinnati from falling behind the curricula of other colleges.
The newly structured curriculum will require freshman students to complete four baccalaureate competencies including areas of critical thinking, effective communication, knowledge integration and social responsibility.
The committee itself was appointed by the UC Faculty Senate and the West Campus Provost’s Office. Recently the program was voted unanimously to be implemented into Fall Quarter 2001.
If you are already enrolled as a UC student at any of its colleges, you don’t have to worry about these changes. Only the upcoming freshman class will be required to take the general education courses.
