The great insurance debate

Health insurance, car insurance, life insurance, house insurance, and many more added to the endless amount of excess coverage. But exactly how necessary are these expenses? We sign half of our checking accounts away for coverage without really knowing if it will be there in our time of need. So how many insurances out there are working for you or against you?

How about this scenario? You are a full-time student and employee working with a retailer income. Not knowing the unexpected is coming, you are found by your parents collapsed on the floor and unconscious. In a panic, your parents drive you to the hospital, but only a quarter of the way from the destination you are involved in a head on collision.

Not at fault, you are confronted with over $10,000 in medical bills and future therapies and will have to proceed with oral cosmetic surgery. You have both health and car coverage, but neither will accept the billings. Instead, you have to battle through your own independent finances and debate over what was supposed to be guaranteed coverage.

This student is me, trying to accumulate coverage that I know is rightfully mine to have access to. Insurance coverage is an endless debate, and it is harder on you stress-wise when the insurance company goes against you. Their idea is to help you save money and assist you in time of need, not to give you percentage ratios of fault and reasons not to cover you.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to save the money nor have been given assistance, only letters that lead me back to square one.

If you were a parent taking your child to the emergency room and became involved in an accident, would you see it as your fault? Do you think it is right for the insurance companies to see you at fault for acting as an emergency vehicle? And to see this as a way to determine your available coverage? Ask your yourself and family and see what you conclude.
