Study Skills Lab covers variety of tutoring needs

If you are having difficulty with a course, perhaps you should take a look into tutoring help. The Study Skills Lab (Room 255 Muntz) has tutors available to help students throughout the year.Among issues the tutors can help with are taking good notes, utilizing the text with the notes, and helping with vocabulary using the Study Skills methods.

The Study Skills methods are different from those used with peer tutoring, and they are effective with most any course.

Sue Gross notes, “When the students learn how to take notes and pay attention to the professor, it’s much more difficult to daydream, and they are able to focus on what they need to learn.”

The Study Skills tutors can help with a range of subjects, including Nursing, Business Law, and Psychology. They do not help with writing or Math, because there are other facilities available throughout the College for those subjects.

If you are interested, stop in the Study Skills Lab or call 745-5730 to make an appointment. The tutors will work around your schedule, and the Lab is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
