If you know of someone who is taking on English as a second language, then encourage them to take part in a non- credit course this summer–English Skills Tutorial. The course offers the chance to meet with a tutor and be able to work one on one.
It is also designed to help returning students brush up on English skills. Topics covered include English grammar, reading, writing, and speaking skills in a one-on-one tutorial. This gives students the chance to create their individualized course of study with the tutor and to meet weekly in the Writing Lab to discuss ands review assignments.
Interactive software is also included in the agenda to focus on listening, reading, or pronunciation skills. According to those who teach the course, having the chance to pace and choose the course materials for yourself while being guided by a supervisor helps modify your work on a more personal level according to your needs.
If you are interested in the course, call 745-5776 to register by June 11, and you will recieve a confirmation letter from the Outreach and Continuing Education Department. The class meeting schedule is June 18-August 24. Cost for the course is $200.
