RWC students win prizes in writing contest

The following RWC students have won prizes in the Fourth Annual Student Writing Contest, sponsored by the University English Composition Committee.Harumi Kawai won first place for her essay “Sweetable Man For the Lieutenant.” She is Maria Damen’s
student.

Erin Halpin won2nd place in the Research Category for her paper, “Fanny Crosby” and 3rd place in the Personal Experience category for her paper, “Sweet Memories.” She is Bonnie Johnton’s student.

Annie Gajus won 2nd place in the Text-based Essay category for her essay “Daystar.” She is Phil Luther’s student.

Karen McElroy received honorable mention in the open category for her essay. “Winter Wonderland or Nightmare?” She is Shauna Murphy’s student.

Brittany Goode received honorable mention in the Just Community Category for her essay, “Why Are You Here?: Priorities in College.” She is Sue Sipple’s student.

The awards ceremony was held on Tuesday, May 29, in the African-American Center, Clifton Campus.
