Three new faculty members have joined the RWC Biology Department Staff. Visiting Assistant Professor Christine Curran is replacing Dr. Frank Wray, who is on leave for one year. Transferred from the Clifton campus, she will be teaching First Year Biology. In addition to her teaching duties, Professor Curran is a science writer for Currents: The Newspaper for the UC Community. She loves teaching and is very pleased with her new position at RWC. She is also quite thrilled with her new office and its idyllic view of the Raymond Walters grounds.
Deborah McKean, a visiting professor at RWC last year, is now a full-time Assistant Professor of Biology. With extensive experience in environmental assessment and environmental toxicology, she will be teaching Environmental Science this year. Before being employed by UC, she worked as a toxicologist, most recently at IT Corporation. She also will serve as the advisor for the Laboratory Technology: Environmental Control & Protection program. In addition to advising students already enrolled in the program, she will recruit students from outside the school as well.
Full-time Assistant Professor of Biology Suzanne Bradshaw is also new to RWC. She had been employed for the last five years in the Biology Department at UC’s College of Arts and Sciences. A molecular biologist with vast research experience, she transferred to RWC in order to devote more time to teaching. Professor Bradshaw will be teaching Lab Tech courses this year. She is the advisor for the Laboratory Technology: BioTech program, and she will play a pivotal role in launching this program at RWC.
