Cincinnati’s third annual Walk As One Walk-A-Thon, sponsored by the National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ), was held Saturday, October 20, and the RWC Student Government sponsored a Walk As One team to participate. A group from RWC participated.
As RWC Dean Barbara Bardes said, “This event presents an opportunity for Greater Cincinnati to come together as one, celebrate our diversity and contribute to NCCJ’s partnership with the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center.”
A wide range of other groups also participated, including houses of worship, schools, social service agencies and neighborhood groups, as well as the corporate community.
The 5-6 mile route highlighted Greater Cincinnati’s significant role in the history of the Underground Railroad.
Also, NCCJ shared the proceeds collected with the Freedom Center for educational programming. NCCJ will use its proceeds to benefit its youth and community leadership programs designed to foster learning from one another and breaking down barriers that divide people.
