Series of seminars hosted by the Math Dept.

The RWC Department of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Sciences is sponsoring a series of seminars this fall that will venture outside the domain of math. The first seminar was already held on October 23, at 1 p.m. Entitled “Writing in the Classroom,” the seminar considered a variety of report formats and the advantages and disadvantages to each. The impact of different cultural views on writing and presenting ideas was also covered.

For those interested in strategies for publishing, a seminar entitled “Publishing and Presenting” will be held on November 27, at 1 p.m. in Room 351 Muntz. The seminar will also consider some ins and outs of publishing and presenting.

The second portion will deal with preparing proposals for presenting at regional and national meetings.

Different ways to assess student work will be covered in the “Alternatives Means of Assessment” seminar, to be held on January 15, at 1 p.m. in Room 351 Muntz.

Those interested in attending need to contact Professor Chuck Emenaker, Department Chair, 24 hours prior to the seminar.
