Opportunity for opportunist

The Media Services Center of the E Media Tech program relies on many able assistants, and several fit the “non-traditional” student category. One of these assistants is Sam Marshall, who is currently enrolled in the E Media Tech program.Marshall brings a diverse professional background to his job. His work experience exemplifies his passion for the written word and visual image. From 1989 to 1991, he was a book editor for Photographer’s Market, helping to acquire and develop manuscripts for a photo book line. He also worked for Fidelity Investments in electronic media and web page production.

Currently, Marshall works part-time for South-Western Thomson Learning, securing rights for E-book publication and preparing photos for textbook reprints.

Also, Marshall showed me his website for his freelance business as photographer/website developer. The business is called “Three Corners Communication,” and its address is http://www.3cornerscomm.com. His business provides publicity photos for performing artists, as well as web development services.

Sam explained that there are overlapping synergies from the course program at the E Media Tech center. There is an inherent interrelatedness to video production, computer animation, digital photography, and website designs that becomes clear to students as they hone their skills for the contemporary marketplace.

Sam’s fastidiousness on the job at the Media Services Center has resulted in three quarterly awards for technical excellence.
