Refugee shares plight of Afghan women

RWC hosted an Afgan Refugee on November 14. Mrs. Nazaneen Jabarkhel Majeed spoke for two hours to a large group of students and faculty. She also shared videos about her homeland, Afghanistan. These videos depict the Afghan females’ struggle for independence. Majeed explained that women under the Taliban control are forbidden to pursue an education.

In fact, females are forced to cover themselves from head to toe. On the other hand, she said men who are under the Taliban must wear a beard.

Majeed also wants to set up educational systems for educating Afghan refugees. This will allow refugees a chance to pursue academia, which will aid them in getting a job.

Furthermore, Majeed believes that such a program will restore the Afghans’ confidence, which has been stripped from them by the Taliban. Not only does she speak at schools, she has also shared her insigts at the White House on Human Rights Day.
