Winter enrollment up 8 percent

Enrollment at RWC is up from last year by what is projected to be eight percent. This spells out big things for RWC, especially since enrollment was up five percent last fall from the preceding year. The cause for this increase is not clear as of right now, but Associate Dean Don O’Meara said, “The increase could be due to a number of things, from the addition to SAHB and the improved campus feel, to the bad recession.”

Dean O’Meara also believes that the added advertising of the College probably helped to attract more students. The construction at the Clifton Campus could also be driving more students to take classes at RWC.

There is also an increase of enrollment at Clermont, which means that the branch campuses more than doubled the Clifton campus in percentage of new students for this quarter.

RWC came in second below Evening College and Continuing Education for the greatest percentage increase.

Dean O’Meara also added, “It’s tough to explain why the numbers increase but it’s tougher to explain when they decrease.” The college is trying to find a way to pinpoint who the new enrollees are and how many classes they are taking, to try to put a formula to the increase so they can then try to prevent any decreases in the future.
