African American History events scheduled Feb. 19-20

On Tuesday, February 19, Dr. John Douglass, will present the third annual forum commemorating African American History month. This year’s topic, entitled “Sui Generis,” will focus on three twentieth-century African American women: Ruby Bridges, Josephine Baker, and Zora Neale Hurston. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend to learn about what made each so unique in their contribution to American society.

On Wednesday, February 20, the southern heritage of African American history will be portrayed through dance and cuisine. Under the direction of Claudia Rudolf Barrett (formerly Ballet Mistress of the Cincinnati Ballet Company), students from Ballet Tech Ohio will perform renditions of southern dance to Negro spirituals.

Southern cuisine will also be catered to complete the Southern motif. This activity will be held in the Muntz Lobby and across from Ray’s Cafe, 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m..
