Seven RWC Office Informational Technology students competed at the Business Professionals of America National Competition May 8-12 in Chicago, and they came away with several awards. The top ten students in each event are awarded plaques in the competition. RWC had three students on stage in the top 10 in four competitive events and three more were very close.
The award winners:
David Michaels, 2nd Place in Network Concepts (Computer Support program)
Andrea Vaught, 4th Place in Administrative Support Concepts, 8th place in Advanced Word Processing Skills (Computer Support program)
Christopher Wright, 8th place in Interviewing (Pre-Business program).
Three students came in 11th place–Nathaniel Williams, PC Servicing & Troubleshooting (Computer Support program), Misty Black, Desktop Publishing (OIT program), and Chris Wright, Verbal Extemporaneous I (Pre-Business program).
Chris Wright presided over all of the state meetings as President of the Ohio BPA post-secondary chapter at the conference.
Yvonne Easley (OIT program) and Nathaniel Williams (Computer Support) sat for the MOUS certification tests and passed. Gloria Thompson participated in the Interview competition (OIT program). Professor Marilyn Grismere said, “All of the students worked very hard and did their best. ”
The students competed against students from two-year colleges and four-year universities. Twenty-four states were represented at the conference.
