The 2002-2003 Concerts at RWC series opens on Saturday, November 23, with a performance by The Local Girls. The Athens, Ohio, based trio is not “local” at all. In fact, they have acquired fans throughout the Midwest. The Local Girls have opened for the Platters, performed for the First Lady, and provided music for National Public Radio and PBS.
Although much of their material focuses on swing tunes of the 30s and 40s, the Local Girls regularly perform their own arrangements of western, bebop, blues and standards. Covering a century of American songwriting, the group creates a varied musical event through humor and harmony.
Single tickets for The Local Girls are $8 and go on sale November 4. Group rates are available.
All Concerts at RWC performances are at 8 p.m. in the RWC Theater. For more information call the RWC ticket line at 745-5705.
