How would you like to have a job surrounded by beaches, palm trees, and affluent people, at a big league college?RWC’s very own Dr. Timothy Quinnan has been graced with such an opportunity. On January 6, 2003, Dr. Quinnan will assume the role of Associate Vice President of Student Affairs at Florida State University. He will be working with and for Winston Scott, a former NASA space shuttle astronaut.
As RWC’s Associate Dean of Student Affairs since 1994, Dr. Quinnan has had the privilege of overseeing many departments at RWC, including Disability Services, Counseling Services, Student Life, Multicultural Student Affairs, Career Services, and other areas.
When asked what were some of the goals accomplished under his leadership, he said, “I’ve seen the college grow in the area of facilities available and I’ve seen the staff grow in the area of responsibilities and services offered. It has been fun watching student affairs evolve into a high performing student centered professional program.”
One of the accomplishments that Dr. Quinnan has promoted is the idea of having one of the premier One Stop Enrollment Centers in the state and in the Midwest region. In two weeks, this project will be completed, as RWC students are waiting to exhale.
Dr. Quinnan, though excited about his new job, has mixed feelings about leaving RWC. “It’s been a great ride,” he said. “I’ve loved every moment of it, but come January when I look at the palm trees outside my office window, I will be thinking of all of you.”
He also noted that he has a good staff that cares about students and speaks highly of faculty and professional staff at RWC. When asked to describe his most memorable moments at RWC, Dr. Quinnan mentioned a student who needed help and how he was able to provide comfort until further help arrived.
“I loved my time here at RWC,” he said, “and I will always remember it as one of the best times of my life.
