A new associate degree program in Vocational Rehabilitation Services was recently approved at the October 24 RWC faculty meeting. This program is geared at preparing students to become job coaches, initially, but to move into a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Rehabilitation from Wright State University, with which RWC has a transfer articulation.
The Behavioral Science Department offers a one-year Certificate in Vocational Rehabilitation Services, which is essentially the first year of the associate degree program, when students can choose to stop and obtain a position within an agency to coach individuals in learning jobs. According to Dr. Diane Feibel, the associate program was developed “for those students who want to have more responsibility and move into management positions in the rehabilitation field.”
Students can add this certificate onto their degrees in Education, Social Work, or Criminal Justice, for example. Courses in Disabilities, Basic Helping Skills, Behavior Modification and additional general education courses provide a strong basis for future work in any field.
Interested students can contact Dr. Diane Feibel at 745-5765 in Room 251 Muntz, or Dr. Lynn Ritchey at llynn.ritchey@uc.edu for further information.
