RWC is going to be offering a non-credit English course during the Spring Quarter for those returning students who wish to better their English skills, as well as for those returning students who speak English as a second language. The class will be taught by Bonnie Johnson and will be held from March 31 to June 6. The course will touch on all of the major components of the English language, including grammar, reading, writing, and the necessary skills required to be a confident speaker.
All of the sessions will be conducted in a personalized one-on-one tutorial. This will ensure that each student receives the necessary support of the instructor, and it will give students the opportunity to inquire about any questions they might have pertaining to the English language.
The first step will be for each student to meet with his or her tutorial advisor to develop a specific course of study that will cater to each student’s individual needs. These meetings will be held weekly, and the purpose is to assess the student’s strengths, as well as those areas of English that the student needs to become more comfortable with.
The cost for the program will be $200, which covers the individual meetings as well as the tutor’s evaluation of each student.
For those students who are interested in the English skills tutorial, more information can be found at the Outreach and Continuing education web page at www.rwc.uc.edu/oce/index/html.
