College Study Skills empower

Are your test grades disappointing? Are you feeling overwhelmed? Maybe you have the ability to do well in your classes, but you lack basic study techniques or test-taking techniques.
The College Study Skills Lab puts the power of learning within your capable hands. The Lab offers students several means of improving your college performance including a test-review service, a College Study Skills course and one-on-one tutoring in selected subjects.
During a test review, students gain valuable insight into their current test preparation and test-taking strategies. After students take a test (in any subject), they may make an appointment in the Lab during which a tutor will review the test together with the student. This service is available to all students, whether they did poorly on a test or whether they want to understand how to turn a B into an A grade. Additionally the student will learn new techniques to become a better test taker in all their courses.
The College Study Skills course teaches students how to take GREAT notes, how to conquer a college textbook chapter, how to manage your time, how to improve your memory and how to study for tests successfully. The course is listed under the “Spring Schedule of Classes” under the Study Skills heading, course number 28-ENGL-175.One-on-one tutoring, using the Study Skills methods, is available to students in many academic subjects including English. Psychology, Sociology, History, Biology and Chemistry. Tutoring takes place for most subjects that are not already serviced by a separate lab…e.g. the Math Lab or the Writing Lab.
