Student government questions

As some of you may have noticed, there was little mentioned about the Student Government last quarter, except for the last issue. That may be my fault. I was assigned to cover them and I tried.
I went to their offices and I met someone named Don DeArmond, who told me that he was the guy I should talk to about the Student Government. He had the information I needed. Then he promptly disappeared. Whenever I went to the office (he said he would be there all quarter), there was never anyone there. I saw him in the halls occasionally, and when I did I would ask him, “Hey, you got anything new for me?”
He would respond by either walking right past me like I wasn’t there or he would say he did have something and he would e-mail it to me. I got one e-mail from him, about two hours before my last deadline of the quarter telling me about the Student of the Quarter and the Student Government representative of the quarter, but by then it was too late. Tim Bentley, a Student Government senator, had turned in a number of stories regarding the goings-on of the Student Government, including those people of the quarter.
So, if you read the story in our last issue about how the Student Government “invaded Columbus” and how they were “this close” to the Governor, understand that it was the same guy asking the questions as answering them.
The same is true for this quarter. As I did such a bad job last quarter, the Student Government has demanded and received a bi-weekly column in the student newspaper. So, when you read about the great things they do, understand that they are the ones writing it. Of course it’s going to sound great. Who’s going to point out their own mistakes? Also, if anyone knows when they hold elections please let the paper know.
