Andi Vaught, the current president of the RWC Upsilon Psi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, was recently elected president of the Ohio Region.Phi Theta Kappa is the international honor society for two-year college students. The RWC chapter, Upsilon Psi, is a member of the Ohio Region, which includes chapters from the states of Ohio and West Virginia.
Vaught also attended the Phi Theta Kappa International Convention in Anaheim, California, April 2-5. Vaught was selected to represent the Ohio Region in the parade at the opening ceremonies at the international convention. According to Vaught, the RWC name (and the Upsilon Psi chapter) were well-publicized at the event.
“I want to thank Professor Deborah Page, Dean Bardes, and all my fellow Phi Theta Kappans here at Raymond Walters College for their encouragement and support,” she said. “I am very happy to represent our school at the international convention.”
Each Spring, Phi Theta Kappa reviews students’ academic merits and sends out membership invitations to all those students who are eligible. Vaught said that students who receive such a letter should consider membership very carefully.
“Phi Theta Kappa is well-known in the business world and will be very impressive on your resume,” she said.
Although there is a one-time membership fee, there is no mandatory participation required to be a lifetime member. More information on membership benefits is available at their website, www.ptk.org/faqs.htm.
