For students who find themselves already struggling with their classes, there is some immediate help awaiting them. In room M112-K lies the College Study Skills lab. It is here that students can come and get help with organization, time management, and test taking.
As part of the tuition students have already paid for, the study skills lab is free and open to all students who need help to recover falling grades. When a student comes in, they can make an appointment with a professional counselor who will help them get organized. This counselor will have the student take a survey that will evaluate their work habits and attitudes with successful students, helping to analyze what the student needs to work on.
The lab can also help tutor students in most subjects except math, accounting, and foreign languages, which have their own labs.
“College Study Skills will help you with every class in college you will have,” Study Skills Director Mary McClellan says. “You learn to learn.”
For students who want to make an appointment, call 745-5730 or come to the lab and ask for help. Office hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
