RWC Enrollment Up From Last Fall

As the filled parking lots have already shown, enrollment at the University of Cincinnati Raymond Walters College has gone up from last fall. An interview with Enrollment Services Director Jenny Young revealed the increase is estimated to be about 300 students. “The main reason for the enrollment increase is the economy”, Ms. Young said, going on to explain, “Many people are returning to college for a career change or new job skills to make them more marketable in a tight economy.”

Ms. Young also added that the Ohio Board of Regents has helped by encouraging students to enter the two year programs which prepare people for the workplace in a shorter period of time, both stimulating the economy, and bringing more businesses to the area.

Raymond Walter’s price is also very attractive to beginner students. They are able to get an Associate’s degree for the price of attending a four-year college.

When asked about the likelihood of most of the new students staying for the whole quarter and not dropping out, Ms. Young replied, “Although we have lost some students, we are still estimating an increase of about 300 students over last fall.
