Alfie: hard to like be easy to fall in love with

Jude Law plays Alfie, a womanizing British transplant in Manhattan, who is worried about not much other than women. He’s had a slew of interesting relationships and escapades, and while he thinks he’s “getting something for nothing,” he discovers his less cocky side when he’s hurt everyone that he knows.

Alfie gets a bitter taste of his own medicine, but it didn’t leave a bad taste in the mouths of the moviegoers, who dropped $6.5 million on it over its first weekend.

It’s funny, not side-splitting humor, but in a more lighthearted and somewhat raunchy way. Law’s sex appeal certainly emphasizes the role of Alfie; he’s a lead character who’s hard to like but easy to fall in love with.
