Bearcats’ offense finally heats up the ice

The 4-4 UC Bearcats hockey team returned to .500 after two wins over Appalachian State last week. In earlier games, Alan Grove and Chris Deutsch combined to give up nine goals to the Radford Highlanders in 6-3 and 3-2 losses.

Friday night, Alan Grove allowed only three goals in a 6-3 win over Appalachian. Travis Slater scored two goals and added an assist.

Slater continued his offensive prowess Saturday with two goals and two assists. J.B. Keller scored a hat trick against ASU’s Liam Whelan. Keller’s five-point night helped the Bearcats dominate Appalachian by a score of 11-7.

Deutsch had 28 saves on the night, and newcomer Jonathan Puhl had three points in his first game for UC.

The Bearcats return to the ice November 19 and 20 in Ft. Bragg, NC, and then will welcome the men of Ft. Bragg to Cincinnati December 3 and 4 at the Cincinnati Gardens.
