The University of Cincinnati club ice hockey team has expanded its winning streak to four games now, after pounding the Eastern Kentucky Ice Colonels at the Cincinnati Gardens. On Veteran’s Day, the Bearcats came out roaring and, with Alan Grove in net, allowed only three goals on thirty shots. UC converted all three power play opportunities and put eight goals on the board.
Forrest Parsons, Travis Slater, and J.B. Keller each had two goals, and Brian Purdy and Nate Rodgers both had markers.
The following night, Steve Capella turned away all but one shot while the offense exploded to put a twelve-spot on the scoreboard. Jon Grant, Brandon Kiley, and Patrick Madden each scored two and Slater added another two points to his team-leading twenty.
The Bearcats were perfect on the power play over the two games and scored on all six chances, while their penalty kill has closed tightly and disallowed the opposition any chance to score on the man advantage.
Now ten games into the season, the Bearcats are 6-4 and gearing up for Winter Break with a home set against Butler University December 3 at the Cincinnati Gardens and December 4 at Sports Plus in Evendale. Both games are at 11 p.m.
