The real reason for the Nursing waiting list

A week ago, I was sitting in my kitchen, sipping some hot cocoa and reading the Cincinnati Enquirer when I came across an article that astonished me. The writer was explaining how there has been a decline in nurses each year for the past five years. I wondered how that could be when colleges like RWC have a two year waiting list for students hoping to get into the Nursing program. Then Kathy Schmadel, who is in charge of enrollment for the program, answered all my questions. The wait is simply because of the ratio of students to professors. There are not enough Nursing professors to accommodate all the Nursing students.

So for all of those who thought they would be out in two years, think again. If you don’t have the pre-requisites for the program, like Math, Biology or Chemistry, you will be asked to take them at RWC.

After you have completed these pre-requisites and your grade is a “C” or better, you will be placed on the wait list.

So all together it will probably take you three to four years to get your two-year Nursing degree.
