Study abroad deadline looms

Applications for RWC’s Summer British Study Abroad Program and also RWC’s Intercultural Language Institutes/Heredia program in Costa Rica this summer are due by February 1, 2005, along with a $100 deposit. The British program, which runs from June 11 to July 5, offers students the opportunity to visit historical areas of France, including Paris, and Belgium. The remainder of the trip will be spent at England’s Harlaxton Manor where a group trip to London is scheduled along with two free weekends for independent travel.

Three college credit study courses are offered during the program:

“Literature For Study Abroad: Reconstructing Trauma in WWI” (to be taught by Professor Sue Sipple);

“Writing For Study Abroad: Writing Like Picasso” (to be taught by Professor Rhonda Pettit);

“An International History of WWI” (to be taught by Professor John McNay).

The Cost Rica program, which runs from June 12 to June 27, is limited to 12 students, and applicants must have completed one year of university Spanish to qualify. The program includes visits to museums, a butterfly farm, and a coffee plantation.
