Garrity explained that her desire to return to RWC and serve as teacher’s assistant for Special Topics in Media II: American Film Noir, Winter Quarter, was due in part to her involvement in a 20-minute film project, entitled “The Image of Women in Film Noir.” The film was shown at the March 2002 Women’s Film Festival, and Garrity received an award for her outstanding contribution.

She reflected upon the project, “I really enjoyed it, and it was great experience.”

Lou Olenick, eMedia Program Manager, told the Activist, “As a student, [Garrity] coordinated a lot of the research for the project and has a great relationship with eMedia as an alumni.”

“Mike invited me back to help teach and lead a panel discussion and put together film clips for the class,” Garrity added. “It’s great to be back in the department.”

According to the course description, Special Topics in Media II: American Film Noir is “ideal” for students wanting to broaden their knowledge and skills in relation to the art of film making.
