Meditation class to begin April 18

A six-week course on “The Practice of Mindfulness and Insight Meditation” will be offered on Monday evenings starting April 18 at the Brookwood Retirement Community Center at 12100 Reed Hartman Highway.
Sponsored by Tri-State Dharma and led by Joan Staubach and Mike Roos, the course will teach the basics of Mindfulness and Insight Meditation, which, according to Staubach, will provide “a good start to a healthy meditation practice.” Staubach said the course can also offer “a supportive forum for those folks who are more experienced in meditation.”
The course will also cover the Four Noble Truths of Buddhist teaching, the role of loving kindness practice, other teachings from the Buddha, current teachings on insight meditation, and extensive references for reading, watching, and listening about mindfulness and insight meditation.
The class will meet from 7-8:30 p.m., Mondays, April 18-May 23. The cost is $65 (free to Brookwood residents).
