“Diary of a Mad Black Woman” was made from Tyler Perry’s play of the same name.Tyler Perry really did his thing on this one. This movie is about a woman, Helen McCarter (Kimberly Elise), who lives a fairy tale life. Helen has everything a woman could ever dream of: a big mansion, a rich husband, Charles (Steve Harris), and all the clothes and shoes that she could want.
That is until she busts her man cheating. Now that is when the drama jumps off. Helen goes to Charles’s law firm one day to surprise him with lunch.
In return Charles has a surprise for her: he comes out of his office with his new found family! Yes, I did say family. He has a girlfriend and a child.
As Helen scrapes her face off the floor, she goes back to their big mansion to find all of her things packed and new things in the place of the old.
See, she thought that Charles wanted to surprise her for their anniversary and give her a whole wardrobe. But oh no! Mr. Charles has other plans. He arrives home shortly after Helen puts on one of the new dresses in her closet to walk down stairs to Charles and his new family standing there.
Charles then tells her that she must get out of the house because he just could not do this to his real family anymore and he would send her the divorce papers.
Talking about drama! Charles literally throws her out the door to a moving truck and the driver, Orlando (Shermar Moore). Orlando then tries to take Helen somewhere to drop her off so that he can keep going on the rest of his routes, but he says the wrong thing at the wrong time, and it makes Helen very mad.
She throws him off his own truck and takes off. She then goes to the house of her grandmother Madea (Tyler Perry). Madea is a 6 foot tall, close to 300-pound grandma, who always carries her gun in her purse. After telling Madea what Charles has done, Madea is ready to go shoot up the mansion.
I can’t tell you what happens next. Let’s just say that Madea ends up in jail.
However, she gets out on house arrest. At a family cookout some months later, Helen runs into Mr. Orlando again. However, after they have a few bitter words for each other, they hook up. Months later down the line, Helen gets a call saying that her husband has been violently put into a coma from an ex-client who was not happy with his services.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Helen sees Charles’s new girlfriend at her bedside wanting the hospital to let him die.
But of course the choice is up to Helen because she is the legal wife. Helen is skeptical about what to do. Should she go sit by her husband’s side or should she continue her relationship with her new found love (who by the way ends up proposing to her)?
What happens next is unbelievable. This is a must see movie. I give the movie 5 out of 5 stars. This is what’s hot!
