RWC Dean Dolores Straker, along with a delegation from RWC and Blue Ash consisting of 23 people, has spent the past week in Ilmenau, Germany. The delegation consists of professionals in the educational and business community. This is part of a sister city partnership, what the Dean called an economic and educational partnership.
The purpose of this journey is to update the exchange program RWC has with Ilmenau’s Technical University and to determine expectations on both sides of the agreement.
The update is necessary because both Dean Straker and Ilmenau’s Provost are relatively new to their positions. Every other year, a delegation from Blue Ash goes to Ilmenau. Then on other years, a delegation from Ilmenau comes to Blue Ash.
Every other summer, students go to Ilmenau, while Ilmenau students come to RWC on off years.
Dean Straker is meeting with school administrators in Ilmenau and will get acquainted with what was formerly East Germany and its customs. The various business professionals will be visiting Ilmenau businesses and getting acquainted with their customs as well.
The group left Friday, April 22, and was due to return on May 1. Details of this journey will be posted in the Activist’s next edition.
