“King’s Ransom” stars Malcolm King (Anthony Anderson) as a multi-millionarie who is married to gold digging Renee (Kellia Smith). They are soon to get a divorce, but Renee wants half of Malcolm’s profit from his company. However, Ms. Gladys (Loretta Divine), who is Malcolm’s over-protective secretary, is not going to let Renee get anything from him. Malcolm and Renee have been cheating on each other for quite sometime. Malcolm has promoted his mistress, Peaches (Regina Hall), to Vice-President, although Brooke (Brooke Dorsay) had been standing in that position for ten years.
Andre (Donald Faison) is a valet parker at the company, who often acts as if he is Malcolm to try to get with women. Andre has always had a crush on Peaches. Peaches, being the dumb slutty person that she is, often flirts with any guy who crosses her path.
Renee has an idea that she can kidnap Malcolm in hopes that he will not try to get out of paying her the money that she feels she deserves. However, he has the idea to stage his own kidnapping so that he does not have to pay her.
At the same time, his employees have the same idea to kidnap him to teach him a lesson about taking his employees for granted. Malcolm thinks that he will get Peaches’ brother Herb (Charlie Murphy) to stage his kidnapping.
Renee has planned for the lawn boy she is secretly sleeping with to snatch Malcolm and kidnap him. A guy that Malcolm does not even know, Cory (Jay Mohr), has a plan to kidnap him as well.
So as you can see this is starting to be a big mess. They all have plans to kidnap him on the same night and at the same time. So who actually kidnaps him? What happened next? I can’t tell you. You’ll have to find out yourself. But what I can say is that is very crazy and a big mess.
“King’s Ransom” is supposed to be a comedy, but the comedy is so scarce that it is ridiculous. I would not recommend that anyone spend $9 to see this movie. It seems very low budget and consists of very horrible acting. I must say I was very disappointed in this movie.
I give it one out of five stars!
