Internet Review: Honoring those overseas

The war in Iraq and Afghanistan has been going on for three and a half years now. At the beginning, everyone had a flag hanging from their house or a sticker on their car. Nowadays, people seem to have forgotten that the war is still alive. We cannot forget about those who are overseas. Halfmyheart.com is a website dedicated to those overseas. Their goal is to “showcase the lives of the troops and their families to give recognition for all their brave sacrifices.” This site shows another side to all of the troops, a side the site developers feel needs to be exposed.

One part of the site consists of stories. Anyone can send in a picture, note, or story to be added to the site. These stories and pictures expose the faces behind our military.

There is also a link to a shop that sells t-shirts and tank tops. These shirts say “Half of my heart is in ___.” That blank can be filled with: Iraq, Afghanistan, Kosovo, Korea, or Kuwait, where American troops are currently stationed.

This site is definitely worth checking out, especially for those of you who have family or friends who are soldiers.
