Students at RWC will have the opportunity to obtain a four-year degree in Business Administration beginning next fall. The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is an “upper division program offered at three sites in two time frames,” program representatives said. UC offers this program on the Clifton campus for part-time evening students. Here at RWC and across the way at Clermont College, students in the program can be either full-time day students or part-time night students.
This new program starts in the Fall Quarter of 2005, and students will be admitted into the program each fall. To get a Bachelor’s degree in the program, students will need to attend two years of classes (six quarters), each year. There will be no summer courses. The program is designed for students with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, or its equivalent of 98 applicable credit hours.
If accepted, students will have to choose between the two comprehensive majors offered, marketing/management or accounting/finance, both of which are 30-hour majors. These degrees are the exact same degree offered by the College of Business Administration on the Clifton campus.
According to UC representatives, the Marketing and Management major “provides a solid foundation for store or branch managers, for sales trainees, and for budding entrepreneurs.” It is intended for students interested in developing versatility and overall managerial competence.
The Accounting and Finance major, UC representatives said, “is designed for students seeking an accounting, auditing, or internal control oriented position outside the formal boundaries of the public accounting profession (i.e. CPA) and corporate tax specialist.”
For day students at RWC and Clermont, classes will be scheduled only on Mondays and Wednesdays, approximately 12-5:30 p.m. The teaching style will be slightly different, however, according to program representatives. Both campuses will be taught by the same teacher through video conferencing.
Blackboard will also be an essential part of the class and its daily activities. For part-time night students, video conferencing will also be used, although it will also include the Clifton campus. Night classes will also be held twice a week.
Every year, the program will have a limited enrollment. The first year, RWC will only accept 50 students into the BBA Extend program.
