RWC held its annual fall carnival on Wednesday, October 5. Booths were set up all over the campus commons with information about various student groups and employment opportunities. Places like Starbucks had applications at their booth, which students could fill out on the spot and give it to a representative of the company.
The Los Angeles group, Thornbird, also provided a rocking live music performance. Currently touring the U.S., Thornbird is composed of members “Bella” Rathgeber, “Spanky” Arellano, and Patrick Simmons.
Thornbird was very fan friendly. They had their merchandise booth set up, where anyone could buy CDs, shirts, and posters, all at a special discounted show price. They also have a website if anyone is interested in checking it out. It’s http://www.thornbird.com.
Groups represented at this year’s fall carnival included the following:
RWC Ambassadors
RWC Ambassadors is great for those new students just coming into Raymond Walters. One of the main things RWC Ambassadors do is provide tours around campus. The quote on the flyer that is an eye catcher is “Would you like to be more active at Raymond Walters, but are not sure where to start?” For more information about RWC Ambassadors contact Angelica Kennedy in Muntz 150.
American Red Cross
There has been a group just formed at RWC for American Red Cross. They are currently looking for new members. For more information about this newly formed group contact Mary Browder in Muntz 251E.
UC Equestrian Team
“Have you ever ridden a horse or would you like to learn how?” The UC equestrian team is starting its seventh year. They have 16 shows a year in the English and Western styles of riding. No experience is necessary to join. They have beginner and advanced levels to learn. For more information, email cincinnatiequestrian@hotmail.com or check them out on the web at http://www.uc.edu/groups/equestrian.
Pre-Criminal Justice
Pre-Criminal Justice concentrates on studies in psychology, sociology, and legal/justice systems. It prepares students for the continued studies in criminal justice. Students can register now for service learning within the Criminal Justice System for 1, 2, or 3 credit hours and these credits may be used as an elective. Every Quarter Pre-Criminal Justice has a registration party that students can attend to register for classes within the program. The next Pre-Criminal Justice registration party will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 1-6 p.m. in Room 357 Muntz. Refreshments will be available. Bring class audit forms. For more information, contact Marilyn Simon in Room 2 of the Flory Center or call 745-5655 or 793-7727.
These are just a few of the groups that are available to RWC students. For other groups, check out the RWC student handbook or get in touch with the RWC Ambassadors.
