Avoid UWs: make sure you get a signed drop slip

Many students enrolled in college are ever searching to find that major that suits them the best. Some students may change majors several times before finding the right one. In other cases, students may be enrolled in a class that they are not supposed to be in or they may not think it is the right class for them at that time.

Whatever the reason may be for changing or dropping a class, the RWC Registration Office would like students to know that all dropped classes should be finalized in writing via a drop slip from the One-Stop-Center that must be signed by teacher of the class. According to RWC Director of Registration Debbie Smith, students must not think they can just stop attending a class without getting a signed withdrawal slip. Not having such a slip will result in a UW (Unofficial Withdrawal), which is equal to an F in figuring grade point average.

Smith advises students to be sure to drop the class before a certain date of the quarter, so the college can refund the highest percentage of tuition.

The bottom line: stay on top of things, and don’t be lazy. If you need to drop a class fill out a drop slip. It will save you time, money, and grades. Three important things to all college students.
