Fall fashion: have fun recycling summer wear

The days of summer are finally behind us, and the chilly fall weather is upon us. With this transitional fashion season, we can mix and play around with some of your summer pieces. The great thing about this season is that you really can play with colors and fabrics. Layering, color-coordinating and mixing pieces, you can make your summer pieces really pop. Not only is it fun to do, but you don’t even have to buy new items for fall! Here are some easy ideas for this season:

For women, the trend this summer was the camisole. For this season, you can still wear them under your dress shirts, blazers, cardigans or even your sweaters. Layers are a must this season. Wearing a V-neck sweater over your buttoned down shirt from summer can really look chic and put together. You can also use a summer skirt and pair it with jeans. The full skirts with jeweled accents from the summer will look great with a denim jacket and a pair of warm flat shoes.

Remember, it might be a little colder out, but it’s never cold enough to wear your furry boots. With this transition weather, a cardigan is always the best thing to have. They are now coming thin, with beadwork and very cute buttons. You can wear it on warmer days when it’s open, or you can tie it around your back and neck for the “preppy look,” and then when it gets colder, you can simply button the middle buttons of the cardigan. Another must have this fall is an ever-so-classy tight, structured, tailored jacket. In addition, a denim jacket will give you instant style when paired with almost any outfit.

Men can follow similar guidelines. You do not have to stick with the dressed up look all the time this season. This fall, make yourself comfortable by also mixing and matching key pieces of your wardrobe.

In contrary to the belief that the pinstripe pants are just for the office only, you can pair them with a patterned shirt or with an argyle sweater. These items give personality and flair to your outfit. They can also make a shorter guy seem taller. One of the must haves this season is the blazer. You can go casual by pairing it with a T-shirt and a pair of jeans or you can dress it up by adding a fine knit sweater and a pair of dress pants.

You have a wide variety of blazers these days. You can choose from a fine wool mix blazer or the ever-so-classic tweed and herringbone staples. You can also get a denim or corduroy blazers that are just as presentable as the rest. With the plaid, stripes and paisley patterns that we saw this spring and summer, Western style shirts are now getting big this season. You can pair one with your blazer and a pair of nice western style boots or just a simple pair of Chucks or you can just wear it on its own.

The trend this season is all about mixing things up and being casual and comfortable, because there’s nothing worse than sitting in class, trying to learn and at the same time feeling uncomfortable. So before you hit the mall, keep in mind that you can definitely stand out and fit in. Ultimately, you can still wear what you want.

These are just my tips for you from the world of fashion, to make you comfortable, yet stylish. I hope these ideas will make your fall season a fun one.
