RWC to put UCTV on the air

The RWC Electronic Media Department has been awaiting the day when they could flip the switch and the “ON AIR” sign would be flashing for their new television station. Now, in a few short weeks, RWC’s television station, UCTV, will be on the air.The broadcast station is housed on the RWC campus in Muntz Hall, Room 113, and is named EBS (Education Broadcast Station). The TV station will have two separate channels: one for the main UC channel, which will broadcast various shows and programs, and one for distance learning purposes, so a class taught at RWC could be broadcast to the Clifton campus or other colleges.

The very first broadcast will be a live one at the debut of the TV station, on November 18.

The debut will feature a celebration ceremony of the new TV station. The Electronic Media Department wants it to be a “great bang.” Electronic Media Professor Eric Anderson, for one, says he is “very excited” about the TV station.

The TV station is also bringing a new media certificate in TV broadcasting for students in the media department starting next Fall. This certificate will add four new classes to the core program: News & Documentary Production I & II; Video Studio Production; Video Field Production; and Advanced Post Production.

In these classes many of the students will be coming up with original programs that will be aired on UCTV, along with learning how to produce each program.

For right now, when UCTV goes on air, the Electronic Media Department will start running a show called “Transmission of Culture,” which will feature various world cultures. The department is also working with other departments at RWC if there happens to be a program that could be beneficial to that department that they would want to show.
