The end of October brings many things. It brings out costumes and candy. It is often associated with the fall harvest. And in the case of RWC, the end of October marked the end of “A Case for Hunger.” On October 10, the FreeStore FoodBank (FSFB) presented the RWC community with a challenge. The challenge issued was to collect monetary donations to purchase non-perishable food to help fight hunger by the case. For 21 days that is exactly what happened.
With the challenge accepted, RWC had an initial goal of being able to purchase 100 cases of food. However, the final total went well beyond that number: 228 cases with an approximate value of $885 were donated, according to Helen Kegler, RWC Director of Multicultural Affairs, who led the drive.
Kegler said those 228 cases will be given to the FSFB in order to help address the hunger needs of those in the Greater Cincinnati area and victims of the recent hurricanes.
Kegler expressed her thanks to everyone for “caring, sharing, and providing hope to those in need.
