Two RWC summer study abroad programs are now accepting applications. One program will take students to Costa Rica for intensive study of the Spanish language. The program will be led by RWC Professor Deborah Themudo. The program will run from June 18 to July 2 and will cost $2000, including 40 hours of Spanish language instruction, homestay with two meals a day, airfare and transportation. For more information, contact Professor Themudo at (513) 936-7140 or email deborah.themudo@uc.edu.
The other program will feature a choice of two courses in England and Ireland and will run from June 12 to July 5. A literature course, taught by RWC Professor Ruth Benander, will focus on the mythology of Ireland and how it shapes modern Irish culture with its literary heritage. The course also involves studying how Neolithic people of Ireland designed their ritual landscape as they were telling their mythic stories.
The other course is a drawing course, taught by Professor John Wolfer. It can be taken jointly with the literature course or as a stand alone. Professor Wolfer will teach basic elements of drawing in the context of the Celtic tradition and the culture of ancient Ireland. Each course provides three undergraduate credit hours.
The estimated cost of the British study abroad program, including room and board, airfare and other transportation is $2500. Tuition is extra.
