The African American Read-In is an annual national event that is designed to promote the significance of literacy in Black History Month. RWC will be one of the community hosts, which encourage local churches and schools to participate by also sponsoring Read-Ins, according to a memo from Helen Kegler, RWC Director of Multicultural Affairs.
There are two dates set aside for Read-Ins: Sunday, February 5, for churches and Monday, February 6, for schools. On Monday, Feb. 6, the RWC community will be holding its own Read-In. However, readers are needed to share passages from books written by African American authors from 12-1:30 p.m.
