Beginning Spring Quarter 2006, the RWC Office of Outreach and Continuing Education will be offering a new non-credit course called English Skills Workshop. This workshop will provide a learning environment designed for more individualized attention, according to Professor Maria Damen, who will be instructing the course. Class size is limited to ten participants.
Because this workshop is a non-credit course, participants will not be graded or placed in a pass or fail situation. This means there are no expectations or stress in terms of meeting or maintaining a certain grade. Class participants will be able to work at their own pace while strengthening their knowledge of English and further enhance their writing skills.
This is the ideal starting point for someone entering college for the first time or returning after a long break looking to complete their degree. Those who have English as their second language will also benefit from the skills acquired in the workshop. In addition to learning and reviewing grammar and punctuation, participants will also learn computer skills related to English.
There are two sessions available for the English Writing Skills Workshop, Fridays from 6:30-8 p.m. or Saturdays from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
The course will be held from March 31 to June 3. There is a $350 registration fee. For more information call Jaclyn Emerson at 745-5776 or email her at ocestdnt@ucrwc.rwcu.uc.edu or by going to the Office of Outreach and Continuing Education’s website at www.rwc.uc.edu/maps/news/courses.htm.
