This coming Spring Quarter, the RWC Foreign Language Department will be offering two new courses. The first course is a new German class that requires no previous experience in the language itself.
The class is titled Introduction to German Film as a Cultural Phenomenon and will be offered Tuesday nights from 6:30 to 9:10. This course is an elective, fulfills area studies requirements, and is worth three credit hours.
This course will provide students with an overview of German films and will focus on the representative films that highlight cultural movements from the early 20th Century to present day. The class will be taught in English with films dubbed in English or with English subtitles.
Class sessions will include lectures, screenings, and discussions. The course will give students the background for cultural movements in Germany that influenced the development of the film industry. The course will provide a survey of important German films from early silent movies to modern efforts.
If there are any questions, contact Professor Debbie Page at deborah.page@uc.edu. For registration, the course number is 28 GRMN 181 901.
Also coming this spring is a new Spanish class. The title of this course is Spanish for the Health Care Professions. It will be offered Mondays from 2 to 4:40 p.m. This course’s prerequisites are Spanish 102 or Spanish 105.
