Students help classmate serving in Iraq

RWC student members of the Collegiate Organization of Medical Assistants (COMA) have collected various items over the past three months to send to Sgt. Bettina Coleman, a graduate of the RWC Medical Assisting Services program, who is serving at present in the U.S. Army in Irag. At Christmas COMA sent Sgt. Coleman a carton that included food stuffs, shampoo, lotions, sunscreen, and lip balm, among other things. Another carton containing similar items was sent for Valentine’s Day.

Sgt. Coleman’s initail deployment was in fuel support transportation, but her promotion has led to an administrative position doing radio checks. In monthly e-mails with her COMA supporters, Bettina has been most appreciative of the gifts and greetings from friends back home.

The COMA group feels that helping a fellow MA serving in Iraq is a way of helping service personnel overseas.
