Style: shorts and pants for spring

The wait is over; spring’s finally here! Warmer air and sunnier days are finally in sight; hence, less reasons for bundling up. If you look at the latest trends this spring, it could be confusing to know which kind will work for you. The most common issue on this is which type of pants or shorts will look good?

There are different types of pants and shorts that you can wear this spring. With my simple tips and little help, you don’t have to worry about getting the pair of pants that will look good on you.

Women lately have more types of pants that they can choose from. There’s the Capri, the pedal pushers, and the recently chic and trendy gaucho pants. You see those types of pants on people, and sometimes they look good and sometimes they’re just wrong.

It is just about choosing the right one according to your body type and occasion. If you are a little shorter, stay away from Capri pants because they will make you look even shorter. Instead, choose a pedal pusher. Capri pants are cut right below your calves and pedal pushers, on the other hand, are cut right below the knees, therefore giving your leg a longer silhouette.

Also choose the right pair of shoes to go along with the pants. When wearing Capri or pedal pushers, you can either wear pumps or flats, although you should stay away from the ballet-inspired flat shoes, since they just look too casual.

Then there’s the Gaucho. The gaucho pants were originally used for yoga practices but have lately become chic in the mainstream of fashion. They are also normally designed for petite and skinnier women. However, there are new types of gaucho pants. There’s the classic and the A-line gaucho. The A-line cut gaucho gives a more flattering fit to curvier women. Keep in mind also that when wearing gaucho, you should stay away from flats and wear pumps instead. Pumps just create a chicer and trendier look.

Men also have more options when it comes to wearing shorts and cropped pants for this season. Men can now wear Capri pants and look very trendy. And there are the ever in demand cargo shorts. Also there’s the comeback of the Bermuda and Madras shorts.

Tall and slimmer guys are the lucky ones because they can pretty much wear any of those types. If you’re on the shorter side or a bit husky, choosing the right pair will definitely make a difference.

The most advisable pair for a shorter guy is Bermuda shorts. This pair is cut right above the knee, showing a little more of your legs, therefore giving you more length, hence making you look taller. Also Bermuda shorts don’t have big pockets on the side like the cargo pants, therefore giving a sleeker silhouette.

The cargo pants are very popular and would pretty much look good on any guy. They are casual and very useful. Just keep in mind though to wear them properly. Make sure that they end right below your knee. A little longer will make them look cropped and make you look significantly shorter.

With these simple tips and choices, spring shopping and dressing up should not be as bad as you thought. Remember, if you are not sure whether an item would look good on you or not, do not hesitate to try it on before you purchase it.
