Kevin Harvick won both the Busch Race and the Cup Race at Phoenix, last week, his second win in a row in the Busch Series and his 19th career win in the Busch Series. Harvick now leads the points standings with 289 points over Clint Bowyer. Harvick battled for the win against Reed Sorenson and Carl Edwards. Four of the ten cautions occurred during the last 27 miles of the race.
After the final restart of the race, things came down to Harvick or Sorenson for the win. But Sorenson couldn’t keep up with Harvick’s car and placed second. Edwards placed third, followed by Busch, Martin, Kenseth, Biffle, Green, Mears, and McMurray, to make up the top ten at the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 in Phoenix. Clint Bowyer had received a penalty for rough driving after causing Jason Leffler to spin out and start yet another caution. This caused Bowyer to finish 21st, rather than a possible top five position, losing yet more ground in the points against Harvick.
Chevy dominated the Cup Series with six of the top ten cars sponsored by Chevrolet. The top ten finishers for the Subway Fresh 500 were Kevin Harvick (Chevy), Tony Stewart (Chevy), Matt Kenseth (Ford), Carl Edwards (Ford), Clint Bowyer (Chevy), Bobby Labonte (Dodge), Jeff Burton (Chevy) and Jeff Gordon (Chevy).
